East London grime is becoming very popular with
artists such as J Hus, Paige cakey, Kojo funds and Yxng bane making top chart
breaking music putting the east on the map. This effects the youth because we
are then inspired to become a music artist. But it is sometimes hard for us to
know where to start, so in this magazine I will be show you all how to start
off making music.
1.
Equipment
You guys can buy cheap equipment from amazon, set it
up at home and make a mini home studio. You will need a mic, headphone, a keyboard,
cables, speakers, a laptop/computer, pop filter and DAW (digital audio
workstation) if you are confused on what DAW is it is just a music software
were you can record audio and make music, it is one of the most important
things.
2.
Beat/music
You can make beats by yourself but if you don’t know
how to do that there are plenty of places to get free beats online from sites
such as YouTube and sound cloud. Next is the lyrics you will have to put your
thinking caps on here and think of lyrics to build a song.
3.
Record/Produce
Finally you can record and produce your music. Once
you got your equipment set up and your beats/lyrics start recording your music.
To produce you music and get it out there publish it on websites/apps like YouTube
and sound cloud. Promote your music to your friends, family and social media
such as Facebook, Instagram and snapchat
However not everyone can afford to buy all this
equipment to make music. But in east London there are lots of studios that cost
little to use. Frenfords is a sports youth club that also has a recording
studio in it, that you can use for £5. The address is The Jack Carter Centre, The Drive, Ilford IG1
3PS, UK. There are more around
and to find them just search in google “East
London music recording studios”
